The family-owned roadhouse is located on the Cliffdale Station, 50km east of the Northern Territory/Queensland border on the Savannah Way between Doomadgee and Booroloola. Hell’s Gate have been welcoming travellers since 1986. Hell’s Gate got its name in the late 1800’s because the police would guarantee safety to this point.  Further west, travellers were on their own. 

You are invited to take a break, enjoy delicious meals, homemade cakes, real coffee and refreshing drinks. Don’t forget to refuel at Hell’s Gate as it’s the last fuel for 320km heading west.  Our outback oasis offers budget and ensuite accommodation as well as a campground for your overnight stays. Connect with your fellow travellers, have a great rest and be ready for a new day and adventure!
